Settling in

Most children settle happily within a week or two. However, if you feel that your child needs you with them for a little longer please do not worry about this – it is quite normal. Parents are welcome to either stay for a short while when dropping off your child during this settling in period or perhaps let them bring something familiar along to reassure them such as a favourite toy or settling music. Please talk to me if you have any concerns. Everyone is encouraged to be very welcoming and I will do my best to try and accommodate both you and your child’s needs to help during this transition period.

Additional tip simple clothing which your child can fasten and unfasten themselves is the best idea if they are at an age when they are able to do this. (If your child/baby is in Nappies please see policy regarding supplying these)  This will enable them to go to the toilet when they need to, to put their coat on for outdoor play when necessary, and encourage independence.

Some of the activities your child will be involved in will include paint, glue and other potentially messy materials and clothing should be easily washable and suitable for this type of play.

I will also use a daily/weekly diary and board for communication and information please feel free to add to your child’s book or ask for a parent’s meeting. I actively encourage joint working. If you would like daily contact via text message this can be integrated into our routine. I aim to have a 5 minute changeover meeting when you collect your child to update you on their daily progress.
